green – The color of your heart chakra
The Heart Chakra Color: Green
Green is the color naturally associated with the Heart Chakra. It has many connections and associations and I cover just a few of the main ones here.
Whilst reading Chakras and Auras for people, the Heart Chakra was one of the Chakras that seemed to be pulled out of balance most often. It is not for no reason we say something tugs at our ‘heartstrings’ – it is an area that can reveal our vulnerable nature.
The Chakra Color Green is associated with:
- The great outdoors, nature itself and as such it signifies the natural cycle and rhythm of life. This translates to our ability or comfort with the changes that naturally occur in our life, not just those associated with our physical bodies but how we feel about people and events around us that naturally mature and evolve.
- Balance and perspective are indicated with the color green too. The Heart Chakra is seen as a bridge between the upper and lower Chakras – and green itself is found midway in the color spectrum. This midway position denotes balance and in most areas of life balance is key.
- Green is also a color of growth and expansion and is often referred to as a healing color. Because of its’ association to Mother Nature it is of course organic and wholesome too. People with green in the aura are often people who make good, loyal friends, they tend to speak from the heart and have a compassionate nature. Teachers or people who share their knowledge and passionate interests with people often show green in the aura too. They love their subject and that comes across in the way they speak and convey their message.
- Out of balance the green can denote emotions such as jealousy or envy, the color almost seems to ‘harden’ which of course signifies what is happening to the energy of the heart itself
- Some darker shades of green within the Heart Chakra area may show the feeling of being trapped or constrained, not much of the daily life of the person seems to be fulfilling or joyous.
- Sometimes the energy around the Heart Chakra seems to be exploding outwards – to me that can signal giving out a lot of love and caring but not a lot may be coming back for the person themselves. Many people prefer to give rather than receive but as I mentioned before – balance in all things!
- People with green in the Aura can often be quite sociable in their character and like texture and the feel of things to be right. Happiness is important to them and in their positive aspect they surround themselves with the people and things that make them happy. They usually enjoy a good standard of living, enjoying life and can be quite focused at achieving their goals.
As you can see it is not enough to just say that the Heart Chakra color is green. Light, dark, dim or patchy shades all mean slightly different things when you ‘read’ that color and relate it to the individual.
This is how we can start to work with color to promote healing – when you understand the meanings of the color and the energy, you can aim to rectify or improve that color, bringing it back to balance and harmony. That’s why meditation is so important.
Heart Chakra Meditation
The Heart Chakra or Anahata Chakra has a most beautiful energy about it. It can be viewed as the bridge between the lower and upper Chakras. It is often the area that is particularly vulnerable in many of us. For here we can harbor past hurts and grievances and even close the heart off a little in a vain hope of protection. Your Sacral Chakra: Your Relationship Chakra
The Sacral Chakra is closely linked and not just by location to the Root Chakra.
The Root deals with the external reproductive organs and the Sacral Chakra deals with the internal organs. What is important is the Relationship between the two.
The same can be said for our lives – our relationships with ourselves, our friends and family are very important to our lives.
The Sacral Chakra is very much about such relationships as well as including our emotions, which of course can play an important part of every relationship we encounter – not just family but business and social relationships too. Some people look to stabilize or balance their emotions through others. They deny to some extent their own needs, passions desires, never realizing the damaging affect they are having on their own health and existence.
This Chakra has very magnetic type qualities and when we delve deeper into its’ depths we will see it is about what and who we repel or attract. It is still linked with your passions – like the Base or Root Chakra but less so out of sheer instinct, here it is more about your desire, your pleasure.
Many people pursue pleasure in all sorts of exhilarating ways and yet can fail to fully absorb that pleasure. So they may seem to be forever chasing experiences, never feeling satisfied. Imbalances in the 2nd Chakra can sometimes be traced back to habitually holding in or curbing your emotions.
Lots of people find strong emotions difficult to deal with and may never seem to get angry for example. However unexpressed emotions always have a habit of revealing themselves somewhere – it can present itself as surface resentment, or in having an embittered nature. The blockage of emotional energy can often be correlated with feeling blocked creatively – whether that is purely artistically – such as writers block or even in work and business matters where you feel your progress and ideas are not given a fair hearing.
Chakra Balance video: the solar plexus
The Solar Plexus is a very important energy center and can easily be pulled out of balance.
It is associated with our ability of concentration ,our focus and our personal power.
It can be thought of as the center of your will power.
Your solar plexus usually will pick up on things, much more sensitively than other areas, it is the home of your ‘gut instinct’ after all. You will no doubt recall the familiar sense of ‘butterflies’ in the stomach at times of anticipation or the more extreme, knotted feelings of churning at times of fear or great fright.
As well as the base or Root Chakra, the Solar Plexus is also associated with the adrenal glands and your fight or flight response.
These days many people find they are plagued by digestive problems of one sort or another, such as indigestion or IBS. Calming the Solar Plexus can have a very beneficial affect on the symptoms of such complaints.
This whole area can hold onto stress and anger and it is often a problem area for many people.

The Sacral Chakra- traditional qualities
The Sacral Chakra or Second Chakra
The Chakras are wonderfully diverse and meaningful energy centers. They hold a wealth of information for us on many levels; physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually. Here is a brief outline of some of the more traditional associations with the Sacral Chakra.
Alternative Name: 2nd Chakra, Spleen or Splenic Chakra Svadistana.
The name can be translated as meaning ‘sweetness’. It is probably easier to see its’ significance if we use the word pleasure.
Color: The color associated with the Sacral Chakra is Orange.
Symbol: Here the lotus flower has six red petals. The element associated with the 2nd Chakra is water – and one of the most common properties with this Chakra is the ability to flow. The association with water is connected to your emotions. Emotional energy also needs to flow – it is thought that blockages in our emotional energy can go on to have impact on your physical body too.
Mantra: Vam
Animal: The animal representing the Sacral Chakra is the crocodile. When we think about the associations this has, we can see that the crocodile moves fluidly in water, may be hidden under the surface and then can leap out with great power and strength. Again this can be compared to your emotional energy, at times things may ripple under the surface and at others they erupt!
Location: The Sacral Chakra resides in the lower belly region, below the navel. It also affects the lower back/ buttock region.
Physical Associations: The endocrine glands primarily associated with this Chakra are the ovaries and testes. The organs of the body affected are the internal reproductive organs as well as the bowel and uterus. As it encompasses your reproductive organs the Sacral Chakra is strongly linked with your fertility but not just on the physical level it is also about your creative ability in other areas of your life too.
