The base/ root chakra: Do You Suffer any of these 3 symptoms of imbalance?
Symptoms of Root Chakra Imbalance
As with all of the Chakras, each one has an effect on your physical body. As each of us is an individual it follows that we will experience each Chakra and its’ energy in our own unique way. You will not necessarily encounter all of these symptoms or illnesses but if the Base or Root Chakra is one of the weaker energy areas of yourself, a friend or family member then you may notice some of the following;
1. Problems with your Blood Pressure
High Blood pressure (Hypertension) - this obviously signifies that despite whatever outward signals you may be showing, inwardly your body is finding it very hard to relax – even whilst resting. Something inside you is still on ‘the lookout’ for some reason your inner self cannot let go and relax, pressure is building up.
Low Blood Pressure (Hypotension) – Our blood is the stream carrying our life force in this world, a low blood pressure reading may indicate a time in your life when you are not able or willing to apply yourself and your energy to life and living fully. This is not to suggest this is the cause of your symptom but it can certainly accompany it.
(As with just about all of the physical symptoms you will discover a psycho – spiritual current that flows with it – many people believe that left long enough these can cause or contribute to the presenting illness. I do believe that we are the sum of our thoughts – regardless of whether we consciously know that or not. There is mounting evidence and countless discussions regarding this and I will certainly discuss this more in later posts. But here, I will try and stick to the physical symptoms).
2. Crohn’s Disease
This is an inflammatory bowel disease, although the specific cause may not be clear there are thought to be possible triggers – immune system imbalances and allergies or intolerances to foods.
On the psycho spiritual level there is often a ‘need to get things right’ attitude about the person. They may be perfectionists, quite goal focused and determined. Usually there is less focus on enjoyment rather than achieving.
3. Constipation
This can often be related to people and issues of control. Whether that be control of the body or of extreme control of the emotions. Trying to ‘keep things in – under control, again there may be a strong element of perfectionism or they may be trying to control things by keeping the peace – so that the people and situations around them may not be annoyed or affected.
There is a common theme here – the Root Chakra deals with our elimination processes – letting go of the things we no longer need – not just on the physical level, but on every level. Trying to stop the natural flow for whatever good intentions or purposes usually results in a blockage.
The Base Chakra is about acknowledging and accepting our basic needs and wants, getting what we need and then letting go. It encompasses your need to feel safe and secure. No matter how you may try and rationalize things and present an outward calm image to the world, if that is not how you truly feel inside then your body and energy will show the tell tale signs.
sacral chakra balance
Second Chakra Healing
The Sacral Chakra is very often one of the most common Chakras to be blocked or out of balance. This Second Chakra is the seat of your emotions and creativity and plays a very important part of your daily life.
This Video clip of a Sacral Chakra Meditation is both healing and cleansing and is the second in the series.
This follows on from the Root Chakra Meditation and uses the same principles; your own hands charged with the rebalancing and harmonizing white light energy.
You can watch and play this as many times as you like.
It will help to release anything that it is safe and appropriate to do so and will bring in new more vibrant energy at just the perfectly right level for you.
Root Chakra Meditation
It is so much more meaningful if you take an active part of your own healing.
I made this short video of images to complement a deeply relaxing Chakra Meditation I recorded specifically to work with your conscious brain and your active participation.
At the start I talk you through a process of bringing down healing light, then charging your own hands with that light. Next I guide you to open, cleanse and balance each Chakra – to a level that is perfectly right – just for you.
This clip is for the Base/ Root Chakra – the full version is well over 20 minutes long.
Please watch this and enjoy! Your comments are always welcome.

The root chakra
The Root Chakra: The Traditional Basic Attributes
As with all of the Chakras, the Root Chakra has alternative names and numerous associations and attributes. The deeper you delve into the realm of energy, the more information you uncover. Here I outline some of the most common attributes you will come across;
- Alternative names; The Base Chakra, The 1st Chakra, Muladhara.
The word Muladhara means ‘root place’ – it is easier to think of perhaps as ‘foundation’.
- Significant Color; Red
Red is often associated with things of a vital or dynamic nature – such as blood, danger, love, sex and passion.
- Symbol;
4 crimson red lotus petals with a yellow square at the center.
The yellow square indicates Earth, with the 4 petals said to signify the 4 compass directions.
The 4 lotus petals are also said to have direct implications to our experience of life in human form. It is hard to explain without getting too complicated but very briefly it is about;
How secure we feel about our foundation and stability in the world.
How we feel and experience our purpose in life.
How we deal with our desires and needs.
How effective we are at aligning with our true authentic self – how we deal with the ego and ‘skin’ we can often lose ourselves in.
- Mantra; The mantra for the Root Chakra is Lam.
- The animal associated with the 1st Chakra is an elephant – with seven trunks. Again the implication is of solidness, stability.
- ยทLocation; The Root Chakra sits at the base of the spine. It is often shown as an energy spiral pointing downwards to the earth.
- Physical Associations; The Base Chakra is connected to the external sexual organs, often with the adrenal glands – specifically our fight or flight responses. Also it is linked to our legs and feet, the spine and hips. I usually take it further and find it has implications for our entire skeletal frame as I believe it is about how we stand in this world – not just physically but on many levels. I’ll take this further in future posts though!
