the colors of the chakras
At first glance the colors of the Chakras are very simply the colors of the rainbow but they are so much more than that. Each one holds it’s own pot of gold when it comes to the significance, relevance and association they have with our daily lives; for each has an energy of its own that relates to just about every aspect of our human existence.
The colors and chakras link with you and I not just on a mental, physical and emotional plane but to the deepest essence of our spirit and soul.
For now let’s look at some of the most commonly associated attributes of the seven Chakra colors themselves;
- Red; Red is a stimulating and energizing color, it is linked with our most powerful feelings and emotions – power, survival, anger, danger, passion and sex. Just because these are powerful, do not mistake them for negative, as with all emotions and feelings there are ways to express them positively as well as negatively.
- Orange; Orange is so much more sensual in its’ nature, it is all about your flow with life and creation itself – whether that be your physical creativity in the sense of fertility and reproduction or the way you express yourself creatively in general.
- Yellow; This bright sunshiny color signifies a radiant personality that others seem naturally drawn to. It links with your sense of humor and the defining of your boundaries in life. As it naturally radiates out, there may be a tendency to spread yourself too thin at times by taking on too much. Because you are a very capable person does not mean you have no limits though.
- Green; One of our first associations of this color is with nature itself, it somehow signifies organic and wholesome attributes. When we take this to a personal level, we relate that to your heart, not just to love but to compassion and your whole experience of love – in every guise.
- Blue; Blue is strongly associated with your ability to communicate and express yourself openly and honestly – not just your surface self but your real self and your real thoughts and desires. Many people have learnt to ‘water’ down their true feelings and don’t get to express themselves as openly and frankly as they would like. Of course there are many times when that would not be appropriate behavior and may cause more hurt by doing so. But your thoughts don’t necessarily have to be expressed directly to the other person involved. What is important is that the words,the emotion and feelings behind those words are expressed and released.
- Indigo; This wonderful and magical color links with your Third Eye. It immerses itself in the deepest depths of your very powerful imagination, not just the imaginative world of pure fantasy. No, this encompasses every idea you can conceive and many more that seem just outside your grasp! There is an innate wisdom and knowing that links to the subconscious spirals of your inner world, regardless of whether they be of worry, fear, doubt or of your dreams and desires.
- Violet; Violet can sometimes seem a bit ‘floaty’ and ‘fluffy’ in its nature, but this beautiful color is very much associated with the control center of your body and mind. It somehow transcends the earthly physical worries and concerns. This color is all about your true authentic self and nature, your sense of purpose and definition. It is connected to your part in the greater universe and your own individual connection to your spiritual nature, finding peace, clarity and fulfillment.
When working with and attempting to decode the language of the Chakras, we work with our sensitivity and intuition , however, it is still an advantage to have some basic knowledge of the meaning of the colors themselves. In this way we can begin to decipher the information in a competent way and then add to it the additional wisdom that comes from the Chakras themselves.
