Traditional Qualities of the Throat Chakra

Alternative names; The 5th Chakra, Vishuddha, this can be translated as pure.

It is usually expanded upon as is interpreted as signifying truth – especially speaking your truth – I don’t consider that to be just what we verbally communicate – it includes our body language and the subtle subconscious messages we tell ourselves, others and the world around us.

Color; Blue – blue is the chakra color of communication and is often also associated with being loyal – true blue – again signifying an element of truth and dignity.

Symbol: 16 lavender petals enclose a white circle with a silver crescent – it represents ether, or cosmic energy – the mystical quality of energy that encompasses the universe.

Mantra; Ham – it empowers the voice.

Animal an elephant but the color of clouds, he has just one trunk and symbolizes sound and he is said to carry timeless knowledge of the past. This links with your Akashic records.

Physical associations: The Throat Chakra affects not just the throat but the whole neck region too. It also has direct implications for your nose and throat too. This Chakra is very much about change and your ability to adapt to and embrace change. Mouth and throat problems can be indicative of an out of balance Throat Chakra. Asthma can often affect this fragile area too. Emotionally this energy center is very much about being able to speak your own truth and also about being heard effectively by others.
